Book Club is Going Strong

The 40 Book Pledge is going strong this year.  I am so excited about that.  There are students who have read only one book, and then we have a Sophomore who has ready over 200 since January . . . I'm sure she has read more than 40 since school started.  I have a senior who read her first book (not assigned by a teacher), and she loved it.  I love the enthusiasm of this group.  We have had some spirited conversations about books, movies, Netflix and more.

We are in-person this year, and we meet once a month.  We usually open with a "Would you rather" question, and we always introduce ourselves at every meeting.  Here is my "Would you rather" presentation.  I created it in Genially.  If you haven't explored this program yet, I highly recommend it.

Here are a couple of our "Would You Rather " openers . . .

It helps break the ice, so to speak.  Many of these students have not been in an environment together, but a good question usually melts that shyness away.

We did a "White Elephant" book exchange for our December meeting.  I provided all the books.  Some had never participated in that game before, but the ones who did helped the others along.  Through our conversations, we have discovered that many of us are not on track to read 40 books this year, but each of us is trying.  As Dory famously says, "Just keep swimming."

Happy Holidays!
